China’s 70% tariffs on US-made ethanol have hurt American producers while providing an unexpected boost to Malaysia. And now, the EPA has decided to absolve some refiners of the federally mandated requirement to buy ethanol. While the latter development is welcome news for US refiners, it is bad news for US ethanol producers.
