Drone delivery had already been on the rise in the US and Europe, with food and healthcare goods being the primary subjects of several trials and other projects. With the outbreak of COVID-19 still gripping the Western world, demand for those products is surging and the desire to avoid human contact is at an all-time high. China led the way in deploying drones when they were at the epicenter of the virus, now others are following their lead, accelerating plans for drone use to satisfy online orders and enforce quarantines handed down by state governments.
