New legislation introduced to congress this month would make it possible for the U.S. agriculture industry to sell carbon credits to corporations that need them, seeing as farming provides vast opportunities to sequester carbon in the soil. Meanwhile, Europe’s plans for a “green” economic recovery has sent EU carbon credit prices roaring back to pre-pandemic levels. And, as China’s plans to build a nationwide carbon-trading scheme faces delays, local governments are picking up some of the slack.
